For people who believe that rape is a crime so important from a news standpoint, that for it to be real, it would have to make regional news, if not national news, then think again. According to the department of justice there are over 64, 080 rapes a year, thats 1 reported rape every 8 minutes. I don't know about you but the only rape cases I ever see in the news these days are child rape cases. When you watch the news, do you see a rape story every 8 minutes? I don't think so.

Even if there's no chance of this guy going to prison, I still think you should press charges, go to the media, and put his identity out there. By staying silent I feel like this guy has won. People need to know who this guy is so he can't hurt anyone else. He's broken your spirit and gotten away with it. Don't let him. If not for youself then for the next person he may do this to.
Also if you're looking to make your story more believable, get a copy of the police report and post a photo of it. I'm a reporter and the police have to release every police report they filed (which had to have been written, since they came out to your house) 24 hours after it's been submitted. At least that's the law in the state I live in.
I hope you get through this Mason. Revenge only gives him more power over you, only proves that what he did to you still controls you. You're in a position to be able to use this to help others. I hope you take that chance.

I don't know you. Before this evening when I read about the brutal attack that you were made to suffer, I had never even heard of you. As terrible as your attack was, to be treated as you were by HPD... well I can't even seem to wrap my head around it. I too live in Houston and to think that the people that are supposed to protect us can behave in such a manner is nothing short of appalling. I myself was attacked, though perhaps not as brutally. I was not strong enough to stand up to my attacker. What you are doing, telling people what has happened to you is one of the bravest acts... that I have ever seen. Sorry to hear that this happened to you. Please consult someone at your local GLBT center and see if you can get the legal help you need. I know from experiences with other friends in Texas how biased the authorities in Houston can be, but you have rights and you should check to see what you can do. Just because you work in the sex industry does NOT mean you can be violated against your will, no matter what some hateful queens may think. Also, check about getting some free counseling if you can't afford it. As a survivor of a sexual assualt in my youth, counseling with the right people saved me even though I got no support from family. Stay strong, don't plot revenge (it won't make you happier) and take good care of yourself.
I am flabergasted! I currently have no words appropriate enough to express my horror (at the event), anger (at the assailants) and compassion (for Mason). Hang in there buddy and make sure you get therapy. You're are gonna need it in order to resume a normal life. And if you want justice the best thing to do is to get the media involved. Now for the bad bit. I am SO sorry that this happened to you. As a victim of rape (unfortunately one who didn't report it) I can kind of imagine what you are going through. The big difference is that mine was date rape and was nonviolent.
It still amazes me what one human being is capable of doing to another!
For me it was a celebrity. A real one... I won't give his name, even though I should... but he was an NFL player. Basically, it was the dictionary definition of date rape... and even though when I went to go get tested for STD's a few weeks later and told the nurse, she didn't advise me to do anything. Actually, I don't think she believed me. Unfortunatly, and to this day, I never reported it as I don't think anything will happen.
Regardless... the reason I am telling you all this is that I hope you are stronger than I am. I hope you have proof (which is where I always fall short)... and I hope you win! Just by posting this here you have already had a small victory...
