They assume that because someone says they are neg, that they are or that they can tell if someone is poz by looking at them. Bottom line, if you want to have safer sex, use a condom. If you are barebacking, acknowledge the risks of doing so; and don't be a hypocrite.

So there is this long boring journal article:
Hancock, J.T., Toma, C., & Ellison, N. (2007). The truth about lying in online dating profiles. Proceedings of the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI 2007), 449-452.
That basically says 9/10 (males and females) knowingly lie in their online profiles.
A nicely done study by the Centers for Disease Control published Sept 2010 that looked at gay men in 21 large US cities at random: 1 in 5 were HIV+, almost half did not know they were infected. So in general if we counted at random 10 gay friends, 2 would be + and 1 probably wouldn't know. Also goes on to say most new infections are guys in there 20s….
Even more interesting to me (possibly to M.W. as well), being a gay 20 something guy in TX who feels like he knows (or knows someone that knows) most (young out) gays in ATX, H-Town & DFW) is that out of the 21 largest cities in the US)– Houston & DFW were tied for 3rd place (26% around 1 in 4) only behind Baltimore and NYC for having the highest rate of HIV+ 20 something year old gay guys. So if we took our friends in those two cities, counted by 10, almost 3 would be HIV+. In Houston 23% of the + wont know it (about 1 of the 3). In Dallas 54%, or 1-2 of the guys wouldn’t know it. (hmmmmm, anyone ever heard of the group of cute “Dallas Plastics” gays that knowingly.....)
Weird out of everyone I know I can only name people in those demographics that are forthcoming about their (+) status on one hand....
Yes, I’m a grad student nerd. No I’m not an activist, but these two articles popped in my mind as I laughed watching this vid and reading some of your blog posts.
Call me retarded, but just because someone has an undectable viral load, that does not mean that they cannot spread the virus through unprotected sex. The robot left me confused...
this is the same thing I have faced since I tested poz 4 years ago, and refused to hide my status... it is a shitty situation, but at least I know I have not lied to anyone.
Hey Mason, love your short video. Very true but also very funny. Being Poz for the last 16 years, has had it's many ups and downs. I'm mostly grateful for the fact that I have endured this fight well many others have lost the battle. I just wanted to wish you good health and always have a positive mental attitude even on the days that may be hard for whatever the reason may be. Be well and continue tearing down the negative barriers and I will continue to support your career endeavors. I still love watching your performances whether you were negative or poz.
